The 147m (482ft) three-masted sailing superyacht White Pearl is close to being launched by Nobiskrug at its facilities in Kiel, Germany. The scaffolding around this huge superyacht, due to be the largest yacht launch of 2015, is currently being removed to allow White Pearl to be floated out of the dock for final fit-out, sea trials and final commissioning.
Nobiskrug managing director Holger Kahl told SB last week at the London Yacht, Jet & Prestige Car Show: “We are pleased to be close to launching the White Pearl. It is a very significant new build for Nobiskrug.”
He added in a press statement: “The launching is the most symbolic milestone of any superyacht’s construction. We are just a step away from welcoming White Pearl, the next ‘gem’, to our fleet of superyachts for the 22nd Century.”
White Pearl is the largest superyacht built to date by Nobiskrug and she will also be the world’s largest sailing superyacht by some 50m (164ft) over the 1931-built Sea Cloud and the 88m (289ft) Maltese Falcon. The whole project has been surrounded by intense confidentiality.
