Antony Sheriff has been appointed chairman of Princess Yachts International in the UK. He succeeds Philippe Mellier, who will remain on the board of the company’s holding company.
The news comes not long after Princess announced plans to lay off 350 workers at its UK headquarters in Plymouth as part of a large-scale restructuring plan.
Sheriff joins Princess from McLaren Automotive where, over a decade as managing director, he built McLaren’s road car division and turned it into a leading global force in the world of luxury cars.
Under his leadership, McLaren conceived a range of ground-breaking supercars such as the MP4-12C, 650S, 570S and P1 and launched them to market with great success.
At the same time, he built a global distribution network and turned McLaren into an elite, technology-driven and profitable luxury sportscar brand.
Prior to joining McLaren, Antony spent eight years at Fiat Auto where he was director of product development for all Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia cars.
