The dismasting of the highest mast ever dismantled in the Balearics took place at STP Shipyard Palma last week. A 500-tonne crane was brought over from the Spanish mainland especially for the manoeuvre, which involved the dismasting of the 82m mast of the Kokomo sailing yacht.
Over the next five months, all kinds of work will be performed on Kokomo, including the refitting and painting of the mast, painting of the superstructure and various engineering works.
As soon as the maintenance work is completed, Kokomo will head to the Caribbean for the winter. The yacht will sail around the eastern and western waters of the Mediterranean during the European summer.
Launched in 2010, Kokomo was designed by Dubois Naval Architects and built by Alloy Yachts in New Zealand. It is the third superyacht named Kokomo and can accomodate up to 10 guests in five cabins – the owner’s cabin, two double cabins and two individual cabins.
